Embedded with Power BI Embedded
Reports are embedded via a Microsoft Entra service principal with an encrypted secret. Each viewing session gets a token with read-only permissions.
Dashboard portal · Power BI Embedded
With ENABLE you share every Power BI dashboard through your own secure portal in your branding. The reports are embedded with Power BI Embedded; users sign in to the portal and only see the dashboards and rows of data they are entitled to. Data Analytics, the Power BI specialist behind ENABLE, can also build the dashboards for you.
A Power BI dashboard is only valuable if the right people open it at the right moment, and see only the figures meant for them. ENABLE handles that with a portal of your own: your Power BI reports are embedded in an environment in your branding, with its own login, access profiles and optional row-level security.
For users it is one place for all their figures: open dashboards, browse pages, pin favourites and see when the data was refreshed, including on their phone.
Power BI remains at the heart of it: reports are built in Power BI and run in your organisation's Power BI environment. ENABLE makes sure they reach the right people securely.
Key points
Reports are embedded via a Microsoft Entra service principal with an encrypted secret. Each viewing session gets a token with read-only permissions.
Browse a report's pages via a sidebar in the portal or via Power BI's own tabs. Pages that are not intended for users can be hidden.
Open a dashboard in full screen with one click, for a meeting or a screen on the shop floor.
Every dashboard shows when the data was last refreshed, and a failed refresh is immediately visible.
Add your most important dashboards to your favourites, pick up where you left off with recently viewed and search dashboards by name.
If a page has a phone layout in Power BI, ENABLE shows it automatically on small screens.
Access profiles determine who sees which dashboard, row-level security determines which rows. Anyone without access gets a clear message.
For dashboards without row-level security there is a presentation mode via a shared Power BI viewer account. With RLS, ENABLE always uses a role per user.
If you share Power BI dashboards through the Power BI service, you arrange accounts, licences and workspace permissions per person, and for external parties it is even harder. It often ends with a PDF in an email or one shared account. Then nobody knows who sees which figures.
In ENABLE you invite people by email. They get their own portal account, with two-factor authentication if your organisation makes it mandatory. Access profiles determine which dashboards they open, row-level security which rows they see, and every viewing session is logged.
Platform admins connect your organisation's Power BI workspace via a Microsoft Entra service principal. ENABLE then synchronises the reports and pages. Per report you set whether the filter pane is visible, how page navigation works, which pages are hidden and whether the mobile layout is used.
When a user opens a dashboard, ENABLE first checks their access profile and any RLS setting. Only then does ENABLE request a read-only token from Power BI, with the right role where needed. That token is renewed automatically for as long as the dashboard is open.
So viewers don't need their own Power BI account: they sign in to the portal. Which Power BI licences or capacity your organisation itself needs depends on your situation; we discuss that up front.
A good management dashboard answers a handful of questions that come back every week: are we on track, where are we deviating and where do we need to step in? A KPI dashboard for a team goes one level deeper, with the figures that team can influence itself.
Not every question fits a standard dashboard. That is why ENABLE also offers self-service BI: in the SQL Explorer, client admins ask questions in plain language, with AI writing the SQL, and with the dashboard builder (pilot) they build simple dashboards themselves on approved data.
Everything runs on the same data warehouse and within the same portal, with the same access rules.
ENABLE is made by Data Analytics B.V., a specialist in Power BI dashboards and data. You can put your own reports in the portal, but you can also have the dashboards built for you. Data Analytics then starts with the end product: first a sketch or prototype of the dashboard, so you see what you will get before anything is built.
Then the data is connected and modelled, the dashboards are built and the portal is configured. That way you get the dashboards and the place where they are shared securely in a single project.
In ENABLE
Decide which questions the dashboard needs to answer. If you have it built, Data Analytics first creates a sketch or prototype.
The data is connected and modelled, and the report is built in Power BI, in your organisation's workspace.
Platform admins connect the workspace, apply your branding to the portal and set navigation, mobile layout and any RLS per report.
Create access profiles, invite users by email and use "Preview as user" to check what everyone sees.
