Connect Microsoft Excel. Through your own data warehouse.
You use Microsoft Excel data in ENABLE through your own PostgreSQL data warehouse: the data is loaded and modelled there, and dashboards, plain-language questions and apps read from it. ENABLE has no built-in connector for Microsoft Excel.
Microsoft Excel is Microsoft's spreadsheet program and is found in almost every organisation. Beyond one-off calculations, it often holds data that exists nowhere else, such as budgets, targets and manual overviews.
How to use Microsoft Excel data in ENABLE
Data from Microsoft Excel is loaded outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration, and then modelled in your data warehouse. Data Analytics sets this up. From then on Power BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API read from the same model, and access profiles decide who sees what.
Excel mainly fills the gaps left by other systems: a budget in Excel next to G/L transactions from Exact Online or Twinfield gives you a budget comparison, and targets per rep next to deals from HubSpot or Pipedrive show progress against target.
Note: A spreadsheet is flexible, and that is also the risk: a moved column, merged cells or an extra tab can break the import. Use a formatted table with fixed column names, and agree who may change the layout.

What you do with Microsoft Excel data
Plain-language questions
“How does actual monthly revenue compare with the budget the controller keeps in Excel?”
“Which sales reps are on track to hit their annual target?”
“For which items are we paying more than the agreed price on the price list?”
“What is the revenue per FTE, per department, year to date?”
The SQL Explorer with AI turns a question like this into SQL on your data warehouse. You see the query, run it yourself, and the AI only receives metadata. More about the SQL Explorer
Does ENABLE have a built-in Microsoft Excel connector?
No. ENABLE reads from your own PostgreSQL data warehouse. Data from Microsoft Excel is loaded into it outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration; we decide which route fits during the intake.
Which Microsoft Excel data can you use?
Typically budgets and forecasts per month, sales targets per rep or region, price lists and discount agreements and mapping tables, for example G/L account to reporting line. Exactly which tables you use depends on the questions you want to answer: Data Analytics first sketches the end result and then connects the data it needs.
Can I ask questions about Microsoft Excel data in plain language?
Yes, with the SQL Explorer with AI. The AI turns your question into SQL on your data warehouse and only receives metadata for that, such as table and column names, never the rows themselves. The SQL Explorer is available to client admins by default and can be switched on for users per organisation.
What does it cost to connect Microsoft Excel?
The price of ENABLE depends on your plan. Each plan includes a number of data sources, from 2 on Solo to 50 on Enterprise+, and an extra data source costs €49 per month. Prices are indicative; after a demo and intake you receive a tailored proposal.
