Connect Smartsheet. Through your own data warehouse.

You use Smartsheet data in ENABLE through your own PostgreSQL data warehouse: the data is loaded and modelled there, and dashboards, plain-language questions and apps read from it. ENABLE has no built-in connector for Smartsheet.

What is Smartsheet?

Smartsheet is work management software that looks like a spreadsheet, with rows, columns, Gantt views and automated workflows. Organisations use it for project planning, portfolio management and recurring processes.

How to use Smartsheet data in ENABLE

Data from Smartsheet is loaded outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration, and then modelled in your data warehouse. Data Analytics sets this up. From then on Power BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API read from the same model, and access profiles decide who sees what.

Project plans from Smartsheet next to actual costs from Dynamics 365 Finance or SAP S/4HANA give a single view of schedule and spend. With purchase orders from your ERP you can see whether deliveries keep pace with the plan.

Note: Columns can be set up freely on every sheet. Use the same sheet layout for similar projects where you can, otherwise each sheet has to be mapped to your data model separately.

Plain-language questions

  • “Which projects in the portfolio are behind schedule, and by how many days?”
  • “How much of the project budget has been spent compared with the percentage complete?”
  • “Which action items have been open for more than three weeks?”
  • “How many rows were marked Complete each month, per project manager?”

The SQL Explorer with AI turns a question like this into SQL on your data warehouse. You see the query, run it yourself, and the AI only receives metadata. More about the SQL Explorer

How to connect Smartsheet

  1. 1Sketch the end resultFirst decide which questions and dashboards you want from Smartsheet data; that tells you which data is needed.
  2. 2Load into your data warehouseOutside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration. We decide which route fits during the intake.
  3. 3ModelTables and definitions that work with your other sources, so everyone sees the same numbers.
  4. 4Use in ENABLEPower BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API, with access profiles and optional row-level security.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does ENABLE have a built-in Smartsheet connector?

No. ENABLE reads from your own PostgreSQL data warehouse. Data from Smartsheet is loaded into it outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration; we decide which route fits during the intake.

Which Smartsheet data can you use?

Typically sheets with rows and columns, start and end dates and progress per row, status columns and assignees and budget and cost columns. Exactly which tables you use depends on the questions you want to answer: Data Analytics first sketches the end result and then connects the data it needs.

Can I ask questions about Smartsheet data in plain language?

Yes, with the SQL Explorer with AI. The AI turns your question into SQL on your data warehouse and only receives metadata for that, such as table and column names, never the rows themselves. The SQL Explorer is available to client admins by default and can be switched on for users per organisation.

What does it cost to connect Smartsheet?

The price of ENABLE depends on your plan. Each plan includes a number of data sources, from 2 on Solo to 50 on Enterprise+, and an extra data source costs €49 per month. Prices are indicative; after a demo and intake you receive a tailored proposal.
