Connect Amazon S3. Through your own data warehouse.
You use Amazon S3 data in ENABLE through your own PostgreSQL data warehouse: the data is loaded and modelled there, and dashboards, plain-language questions and apps read from it. ENABLE has no built-in connector for Amazon S3.
Amazon S3 is the object storage service of Amazon Web Services, where you can keep files of any format. It is not a database, but organisations often use it as a central place for exports, log files and the files that make up a data lake.
How to use Amazon S3 data in ENABLE
Data from Amazon S3 is loaded outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration, and then modelled in your data warehouse. Data Analytics sets this up. From then on Power BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API read from the same model, and access profiles decide who sees what.
Files from Amazon S3 next to current data from your ERP, for example Business Central or NetSuite, reveal trends that go further back than the current system. With shipping files from PostNL or DPD you can compare logistics costs with revenue per order.
Note: Because S3 is storage rather than a database, the structure lives in the files themselves. Keep columns and file names consistent between deliveries, or a file that differs may be processed incorrectly or not at all.

What you do with Amazon S3 data
Plain-language questions
“How has stock value moved according to the warehouse's daily exports?”
“What share of shipments in our logistics partner's files were delivered on time?”
“What percentage of revenue went on shipping costs last quarter?”
“How has revenue grown once the archive files from the old system are included?”
The SQL Explorer with AI turns a question like this into SQL on your data warehouse. You see the query, run it yourself, and the AI only receives metadata. More about the SQL Explorer
No. ENABLE reads from your own PostgreSQL data warehouse. Data from Amazon S3 is loaded into it outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration; we decide which route fits during the intake.
Which Amazon S3 data can you use?
Typically CSV exports from business systems, parquet files from a data lake, JSON files with events or API responses and daily files from suppliers or logistics partners. Exactly which tables you use depends on the questions you want to answer: Data Analytics first sketches the end result and then connects the data it needs.
Can I ask questions about Amazon S3 data in plain language?
Yes, with the SQL Explorer with AI. The AI turns your question into SQL on your data warehouse and only receives metadata for that, such as table and column names, never the rows themselves. The SQL Explorer is available to client admins by default and can be switched on for users per organisation.
What does it cost to connect Amazon S3?
The price of ENABLE depends on your plan. Each plan includes a number of data sources, from 2 on Solo to 50 on Enterprise+, and an extra data source costs €49 per month. Prices are indicative; after a demo and intake you receive a tailored proposal.
