Connect Oracle Database. Through your own data warehouse.

You use Oracle Database data in ENABLE through your own PostgreSQL data warehouse: the data is loaded and modelled there, and dashboards, plain-language questions and apps read from it. ENABLE has no built-in connector for Oracle Database.

What is Oracle Database?

Oracle Database is Oracle's relational database, aimed at large organisations with high transaction volumes and strict availability requirements. It sits under many business applications, including Oracle's own ERP software such as Oracle E-Business Suite.

How to use Oracle Database data in ENABLE

Data from Oracle Database is loaded outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration, and then modelled in your data warehouse. Data Analytics sets this up. From then on Power BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API read from the same model, and access profiles decide who sees what.

Finance and purchasing data from an Oracle database next to a CRM such as Salesforce shows which customers and contracts carry the margin. With plans from Smartsheet or Wrike you can set project spend against progress.

Note: Packages such as Oracle E-Business Suite have thousands of tables. Start with a clearly bounded set, for example the general ledger and receivables, and expand from there.

What you do with Oracle Database data

Plain-language questions

  • “How has operating margin moved per legal entity each quarter?”
  • “How many days do we take on average to pay suppliers, and how quickly do customers pay us?”
  • “With which suppliers did we pay most above the agreed standard price?”
  • “How many times a year does stock turn over in each warehouse?”

The SQL Explorer with AI turns a question like this into SQL on your data warehouse. You see the query, run it yourself, and the AI only receives metadata. More about the SQL Explorer

How to connect Oracle Database

  1. 1Sketch the end resultFirst decide which questions and dashboards you want from Oracle Database data; that tells you which data is needed.
  2. 2Load into your data warehouseOutside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration. We decide which route fits during the intake.
  3. 3ModelTables and definitions that work with your other sources, so everyone sees the same numbers.
  4. 4Use in ENABLEPower BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API, with access profiles and optional row-level security.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does ENABLE have a built-in Oracle Database connector?

No. ENABLE reads from your own PostgreSQL data warehouse. Data from Oracle Database is loaded into it outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration; we decide which route fits during the intake.

Which Oracle Database data can you use?

Typically general ledger journals and chart of accounts, receivables and payables items, purchase orders and receipts and inventory transactions by location. Exactly which tables you use depends on the questions you want to answer: Data Analytics first sketches the end result and then connects the data it needs.

Can I ask questions about Oracle Database data in plain language?

Yes, with the SQL Explorer with AI. The AI turns your question into SQL on your data warehouse and only receives metadata for that, such as table and column names, never the rows themselves. The SQL Explorer is available to client admins by default and can be switched on for users per organisation.

What does it cost to connect Oracle Database?

The price of ENABLE depends on your plan. Each plan includes a number of data sources, from 2 on Solo to 50 on Enterprise+, and an extra data source costs €49 per month. Prices are indicative; after a demo and intake you receive a tailored proposal.
