Connect Amazon DynamoDB. Through your own data warehouse.

You use Amazon DynamoDB data in ENABLE through your own PostgreSQL data warehouse: the data is loaded and modelled there, and dashboards, plain-language questions and apps read from it. ENABLE has no built-in connector for Amazon DynamoDB.

What is Amazon DynamoDB?

Amazon DynamoDB is a fully managed NoSQL database from AWS for key-value and document data. Developers use it for applications that need fast, predictable responses under heavy traffic, often alongside other serverless AWS services.

How to use Amazon DynamoDB data in ENABLE

Data from Amazon DynamoDB is loaded outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration, and then modelled in your data warehouse. Data Analytics sets this up. From then on Power BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API read from the same model, and access profiles decide who sees what.

Order and payment data from DynamoDB next to transactions from Stripe or Adyen show whether every order was actually paid. With shipping data from Sendcloud or UPS you can follow orders all the way to the customer's door.

Note: A DynamoDB table sometimes holds several kinds of records, distinguishable only by how their keys are built. They need separating before you can calculate per kind of record.

Plain-language questions

  • “How long does it take on average between placing and shipping an order?”
  • “What share of payment attempts failed last month, by payment method?”
  • “What is the average order value by day of the week?”
  • “How many new users completed an order in their first week?”

The SQL Explorer with AI turns a question like this into SQL on your data warehouse. You see the query, run it yourself, and the AI only receives metadata. More about the SQL Explorer

How to connect Amazon DynamoDB

  1. 1Sketch the end resultFirst decide which questions and dashboards you want from Amazon DynamoDB data; that tells you which data is needed.
  2. 2Load into your data warehouseOutside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration. We decide which route fits during the intake.
  3. 3ModelTables and definitions that work with your other sources, so everyone sees the same numbers.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does ENABLE have a built-in Amazon DynamoDB connector?

No. ENABLE reads from your own PostgreSQL data warehouse. Data from Amazon DynamoDB is loaded into it outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration; we decide which route fits during the intake.

Which Amazon DynamoDB data can you use?

Typically items with a partition key and sort key, orders and order statuses, payment attempts and their outcome and user sessions. Exactly which tables you use depends on the questions you want to answer: Data Analytics first sketches the end result and then connects the data it needs.

Can I ask questions about Amazon DynamoDB data in plain language?

Yes, with the SQL Explorer with AI. The AI turns your question into SQL on your data warehouse and only receives metadata for that, such as table and column names, never the rows themselves. The SQL Explorer is available to client admins by default and can be switched on for users per organisation.

What does it cost to connect Amazon DynamoDB?

The price of ENABLE depends on your plan. Each plan includes a number of data sources, from 2 on Solo to 50 on Enterprise+, and an extra data source costs €49 per month. Prices are indicative; after a demo and intake you receive a tailored proposal.
