Connect Your own REST API. Through your own data warehouse.

You use Your own REST API data in ENABLE through your own PostgreSQL data warehouse: the data is loaded and modelled there, and dashboards, plain-language questions and apps read from it. ENABLE has no built-in connector for Your own REST API.

What is Your own REST API?

By your own REST API we mean the API of a bespoke application, an industry-specific package or a partner that makes data available as JSON over HTTP. This is the category for systems that are not on this list but do have an API.

How to use Your own REST API data in ENABLE

Data from Your own REST API is loaded outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration, and then modelled in your data warehouse. Data Analytics sets this up. From then on Power BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API read from the same model, and access profiles decide who sees what.

Data from your own API next to invoices from Exact Online or AFAS Profit shows what happens in your own system and what it means financially. With tickets from Zendesk or Trengo you can see whether delays in the process lead to more customer questions.

Note: An API often returns only the current state. If you want to analyse history, such as status changes or old prices, it has to be recorded separately unless the API provides it.

Plain-language questions

  • “How many jobs from our own platform were handled within the agreed service window?”
  • “How long does it take on average from request to completion, by type of job?”
  • “What share of last year's customers bought from us again this year?”
  • “What is the average value of an order placed through Acme Groothandel's partner portal?”

The SQL Explorer with AI turns a question like this into SQL on your data warehouse. You see the query, run it yourself, and the AI only receives metadata. More about the SQL Explorer

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does ENABLE have a built-in Your own REST API connector?

No. ENABLE reads from your own PostgreSQL data warehouse. Data from Your own REST API is loaded into it outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration; we decide which route fits during the intake.

Which Your own REST API data can you use?

Typically orders or jobs from your own platform, customers and contracts, bookings or appointments and status updates for shipments or service requests. Exactly which tables you use depends on the questions you want to answer: Data Analytics first sketches the end result and then connects the data it needs.

Can I ask questions about Your own REST API data in plain language?

Yes, with the SQL Explorer with AI. The AI turns your question into SQL on your data warehouse and only receives metadata for that, such as table and column names, never the rows themselves. The SQL Explorer is available to client admins by default and can be switched on for users per organisation.

What does it cost to connect Your own REST API?

The price of ENABLE depends on your plan. Each plan includes a number of data sources, from 2 on Solo to 50 on Enterprise+, and an extra data source costs €49 per month. Prices are indicative; after a demo and intake you receive a tailored proposal.
