Connect MongoDB. Through your own data warehouse.

You use MongoDB data in ENABLE through your own PostgreSQL data warehouse: the data is loaded and modelled there, and dashboards, plain-language questions and apps read from it. ENABLE has no built-in connector for MongoDB.

What is MongoDB?

MongoDB is a document database that stores data as JSON-like documents rather than in fixed tables. Development teams choose it for applications whose data structure changes often or varies a lot from record to record.

How to use MongoDB data in ENABLE

Data from MongoDB is loaded outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration, and then modelled in your data warehouse. Data Analytics sets this up. From then on Power BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API read from the same model, and access profiles decide who sees what.

Usage data from MongoDB next to subscriptions from Stripe or Chargebee shows which usage patterns go with renewing or cancelling. With conversations from Intercom you can also see which features generate the most questions.

Note: Documents often contain nested objects and arrays. For analysis in SQL these first have to be unpacked into tables, for example one row per order line rather than one document per order.

What you do with MongoDB data

Plain-language questions

  • “What share of new users complete the first key action within seven days?”
  • “How many of our monthly active users are active every day?”
  • “How many customers stopped using the app over the last three months?”
  • “What is the average value of an in-app order, by platform?”

The SQL Explorer with AI turns a question like this into SQL on your data warehouse. You see the query, run it yourself, and the AI only receives metadata. More about the SQL Explorer

Steps

How to connect MongoDB

  1. 1Sketch the end resultFirst decide which questions and dashboards you want from MongoDB data; that tells you which data is needed.
  2. 2Load into your data warehouseOutside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration. We decide which route fits during the intake.
  3. 3ModelTables and definitions that work with your other sources, so everyone sees the same numbers.
  4. 4Use in ENABLEPower BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API, with access profiles and optional row-level security.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does ENABLE have a built-in MongoDB connector?

No. ENABLE reads from your own PostgreSQL data warehouse. Data from MongoDB is loaded into it outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration; we decide which route fits during the intake.

Which MongoDB data can you use?

Typically user profiles and account settings, application events, product catalogues with attributes that vary per product and baskets and orders stored as nested documents. Exactly which tables you use depends on the questions you want to answer: Data Analytics first sketches the end result and then connects the data it needs.

Can I ask questions about MongoDB data in plain language?

Yes, with the SQL Explorer with AI. The AI turns your question into SQL on your data warehouse and only receives metadata for that, such as table and column names, never the rows themselves. The SQL Explorer is available to client admins by default and can be switched on for users per organisation.

What does it cost to connect MongoDB?

The price of ENABLE depends on your plan. Each plan includes a number of data sources, from 2 on Solo to 50 on Enterprise+, and an extra data source costs €49 per month. Prices are indicative; after a demo and intake you receive a tailored proposal.
