Connect Azure SQL Database. Through your own data warehouse.

You use Azure SQL Database data in ENABLE through your own PostgreSQL data warehouse: the data is loaded and modelled there, and dashboards, plain-language questions and apps read from it. ENABLE has no built-in connector for Azure SQL Database.

What is Azure SQL Database?

Azure SQL Database is Microsoft's managed cloud database, built on the SQL Server database engine. Microsoft takes care of backups, updates and availability, among other things, so organisations do not need to run their own database servers.

How to use Azure SQL Database data in ENABLE

Data from Azure SQL Database is loaded outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration, and then modelled in your data warehouse. Data Analytics sets this up. From then on Power BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API read from the same model, and access profiles decide who sees what.

Data from your own application on Azure SQL Database next to the books in Business Central or Dynamics 365 Finance shows how platform usage turns into invoiced revenue. With account data from Dynamics 365 Sales you can also see which account manager is driving which growth.

Plain-language questions

  • “How many customers who ordered last year have ordered again this year?”
  • “How has revenue through our customer portal grown each month compared with last year?”
  • “What is the gross margin per customer for our twenty largest customers?”
  • “What is the average order value by region?”

The SQL Explorer with AI turns a question like this into SQL on your data warehouse. You see the query, run it yourself, and the AI only receives metadata. More about the SQL Explorer

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does ENABLE have a built-in Azure SQL Database connector?

No. ENABLE reads from your own PostgreSQL data warehouse. Data from Azure SQL Database is loaded into it outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration; we decide which route fits during the intake.

Which Azure SQL Database data can you use?

Typically tables from in-house web applications and customer portals, bespoke systems moved from an on-premises SQL Server to Azure, customer and contract data from your own platform and orders and transactions. Exactly which tables you use depends on the questions you want to answer: Data Analytics first sketches the end result and then connects the data it needs.

Can I ask questions about Azure SQL Database data in plain language?

Yes, with the SQL Explorer with AI. The AI turns your question into SQL on your data warehouse and only receives metadata for that, such as table and column names, never the rows themselves. The SQL Explorer is available to client admins by default and can be switched on for users per organisation.

What does it cost to connect Azure SQL Database?

The price of ENABLE depends on your plan. Each plan includes a number of data sources, from 2 on Solo to 50 on Enterprise+, and an extra data source costs €49 per month. Prices are indicative; after a demo and intake you receive a tailored proposal.
