Connect Microsoft SQL Server. Through your own data warehouse.

You use Microsoft SQL Server data in ENABLE through your own PostgreSQL data warehouse: the data is loaded and modelled there, and dashboards, plain-language questions and apps read from it. ENABLE has no built-in connector for Microsoft SQL Server.

What is Microsoft SQL Server?

Microsoft SQL Server is Microsoft's relational database, which organisations run on their own servers or virtual machines. A lot of locally installed business software, such as Exact Globe and Business Central on-premises, stores its data in it.

How to use Microsoft SQL Server data in ENABLE

Data from Microsoft SQL Server is loaded outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration, and then modelled in your data warehouse. Data Analytics sets this up. From then on Power BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API read from the same model, and access profiles decide who sees what.

Data from a SQL Server-based ERP next to a webshop such as Magento or WooCommerce shows how online orders flow through to stock and margin. Add shipping data from Sendcloud and the whole chain from order to delivery becomes visible.

Plain-language questions

  • “How do actual costs per cost centre compare with budget, by quarter?”
  • “How many days pass on average between receiving and delivering an order, by site?”
  • “Which item groups have the lowest stock turnover?”
  • “How has the average payment period of customers changed since last year?”

The SQL Explorer with AI turns a question like this into SQL on your data warehouse. You see the query, run it yourself, and the AI only receives metadata. More about the SQL Explorer

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does ENABLE have a built-in Microsoft SQL Server connector?

No. ENABLE reads from your own PostgreSQL data warehouse. Data from Microsoft SQL Server is loaded into it outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration; we decide which route fits during the intake.

Which Microsoft SQL Server data can you use?

Typically tables from a locally installed ERP package, general ledger, receivables and payables transactions, items, stock and warehouse locations and sales and purchase orders. Exactly which tables you use depends on the questions you want to answer: Data Analytics first sketches the end result and then connects the data it needs.

Can I ask questions about Microsoft SQL Server data in plain language?

Yes, with the SQL Explorer with AI. The AI turns your question into SQL on your data warehouse and only receives metadata for that, such as table and column names, never the rows themselves. The SQL Explorer is available to client admins by default and can be switched on for users per organisation.

What does it cost to connect Microsoft SQL Server?

The price of ENABLE depends on your plan. Each plan includes a number of data sources, from 2 on Solo to 50 on Enterprise+, and an extra data source costs €49 per month. Prices are indicative; after a demo and intake you receive a tailored proposal.
