Connect Amazon Redshift. Through your own data warehouse.

You use Amazon Redshift data in ENABLE through your own PostgreSQL data warehouse: the data is loaded and modelled there, and dashboards, plain-language questions and apps read from it. ENABLE has no built-in connector for Amazon Redshift.

What is Amazon Redshift?

Amazon Redshift is the data warehouse from Amazon Web Services, designed for analysis on large volumes of structured data. Organisations that already run their applications on AWS use it to analyse data from that environment in one place.

How to use Amazon Redshift data in ENABLE

Data from Amazon Redshift is loaded outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration, and then modelled in your data warehouse. Data Analytics sets this up. From then on Power BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API read from the same model, and access profiles decide who sees what.

Order and customer data from Redshift next to shipping data from DHL or PostNL and payments from Adyen give a complete picture of revenue, cost and margin per order. With marketing costs from Google Ads you can see what a customer costs against what they bring in.

Note: Redshift uses an SQL dialect based on PostgreSQL, but not every PostgreSQL function and data type is supported. Queries therefore do not always carry over unchanged.

Plain-language questions

  • “How has quarterly revenue developed compared with the same period last year?”
  • “What is a customer worth on average over three years, by acquisition channel?”
  • “What share of customers buy again within ninety days?”
  • “What does shipping an order cost on average, by carrier and country?”

The SQL Explorer with AI turns a question like this into SQL on your data warehouse. You see the query, run it yourself, and the AI only receives metadata. More about the SQL Explorer

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does ENABLE have a built-in Amazon Redshift connector?

No. ENABLE reads from your own PostgreSQL data warehouse. Data from Amazon Redshift is loaded into it outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration; we decide which route fits during the intake.

Which Amazon Redshift data can you use?

Typically orders and customers from applications on AWS, clickstream and usage data, files from Amazon S3 loaded into tables and shipping and fulfilment data. Exactly which tables you use depends on the questions you want to answer: Data Analytics first sketches the end result and then connects the data it needs.

Can I ask questions about Amazon Redshift data in plain language?

Yes, with the SQL Explorer with AI. The AI turns your question into SQL on your data warehouse and only receives metadata for that, such as table and column names, never the rows themselves. The SQL Explorer is available to client admins by default and can be switched on for users per organisation.

What does it cost to connect Amazon Redshift?

The price of ENABLE depends on your plan. Each plan includes a number of data sources, from 2 on Solo to 50 on Enterprise+, and an extra data source costs €49 per month. Prices are indicative; after a demo and intake you receive a tailored proposal.
