What is Square?

Square is a point-of-sale and payments service from the American company Block, aimed at small businesses such as shops, cafes and service providers. It combines card payments, a till app, online selling and basic staff scheduling.

How to use Square data in ENABLE

Data from Square is loaded outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration, and then modelled in your data warehouse. Data Analytics sets this up. From then on Power BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API read from the same model, and access profiles decide who sees what.

Your accounting package, such as Xero or QuickBooks, puts till revenue next to costs and staff costs. An online shop such as Squarespace or Wix shows in-store and online sales together.

Does ENABLE have a built-in Square connector?

No. ENABLE reads from your own PostgreSQL data warehouse. Data from Square is loaded into it outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration; we decide which route fits during the intake.

Which Square data can you use?

Typically payments with card type and timestamp, orders with itemised products, item catalogue with prices and inventory per location. Exactly which tables you use depends on the questions you want to answer: Data Analytics first sketches the end result and then connects the data it needs.

Can I ask questions about Square data in plain language?

Yes, with the SQL Explorer with AI. The AI turns your question into SQL on your data warehouse and only receives metadata for that, such as table and column names, never the rows themselves. The SQL Explorer is available to client admins by default and can be switched on for users per organisation.

What does it cost to connect Square?

The price of ENABLE depends on your plan. Each plan includes a number of data sources, from 2 on Solo to 50 on Enterprise+, and an extra data source costs €49 per month. Prices are indicative; after a demo and intake you receive a tailored proposal.
