What is SumUp?

SumUp provides card readers, a till app and online payment links for small businesses. It is widely used by market traders, hairdressers, hospitality and other businesses that want a simple way to accept card payments.

How to use SumUp data in ENABLE

Data from SumUp is loaded outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration, and then modelled in your data warehouse. Data Analytics sets this up. From then on Power BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API read from the same model, and access profiles decide who sees what.

Your accounting package, such as Moneybird or e-Boekhouden.nl, lets you reconcile payouts with revenue. A staff rota in Excel or Google Sheets shows how revenue per hour compares with staffing.

Plain-language questions

  • “On which days and at what times do we take the most card payments?”
  • “How much is tipped through the card reader each month?”
  • “What do we keep from card revenue after SumUp fees?”
  • “Which staff member or card reader handles the most transactions?”

The SQL Explorer with AI turns a question like this into SQL on your data warehouse. You see the query, run it yourself, and the AI only receives metadata. More about the SQL Explorer

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does ENABLE have a built-in SumUp connector?

No. ENABLE reads from your own PostgreSQL data warehouse. Data from SumUp is loaded into it outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration; we decide which route fits during the intake.

Which SumUp data can you use?

Typically transactions with time, amount and card scheme, status per transaction (successful, failed, refunded), tips and payouts to the bank with fees. Exactly which tables you use depends on the questions you want to answer: Data Analytics first sketches the end result and then connects the data it needs.

Can I ask questions about SumUp data in plain language?

Yes, with the SQL Explorer with AI. The AI turns your question into SQL on your data warehouse and only receives metadata for that, such as table and column names, never the rows themselves. The SQL Explorer is available to client admins by default and can be switched on for users per organisation.

What does it cost to connect SumUp?

The price of ENABLE depends on your plan. Each plan includes a number of data sources, from 2 on Solo to 50 on Enterprise+, and an extra data source costs €49 per month. Prices are indicative; after a demo and intake you receive a tailored proposal.
