Connect Matomo. Through your own data warehouse.

You use Matomo data in ENABLE through your own PostgreSQL data warehouse: the data is loaded and modelled there, and dashboards, plain-language questions and apps read from it. ENABLE has no built-in connector for Matomo.

What is Matomo?

Matomo, formerly Piwik, is an open-source web analytics package that you can host yourself or use as a cloud service. It is chosen by organisations that want full control over their visitor data, such as government, education and healthcare bodies.

How to use Matomo data in ENABLE

Data from Matomo is loaded outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration, and then modelled in your data warehouse. Data Analytics sets this up. From then on Power BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API read from the same model, and access profiles decide who sees what.

Add Google Search Console to see which queries lead to visits and what those visitors do next. Next to your CRM, such as HubSpot or Pipedrive, you follow visitors who completed a goal through to a deal.

Note: Matomo uses its own terms, such as visits rather than sessions and goals for conversions, and measures differently from GA4. Do not expect identical figures if you put the two side by side.

Plain-language questions

  • “Which pages have the highest bounce rate for visits from search engines?”
  • “Which terms do visitors search for most often in our site search without finding a result?”
  • “How many visits lead to the Quote requested goal, per campaign?”
  • “Which downloads were most popular over the past year?”

The SQL Explorer with AI turns a question like this into SQL on your data warehouse. You see the query, run it yourself, and the AI only receives metadata. More about the SQL Explorer

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does ENABLE have a built-in Matomo connector?

No. ENABLE reads from your own PostgreSQL data warehouse. Data from Matomo is loaded into it outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration; we decide which route fits during the intake.

Which Matomo data can you use?

Typically visits and visitors, page views and page titles, referrers: search engines, websites and campaigns and goals and conversions. Exactly which tables you use depends on the questions you want to answer: Data Analytics first sketches the end result and then connects the data it needs.

Can I ask questions about Matomo data in plain language?

Yes, with the SQL Explorer with AI. The AI turns your question into SQL on your data warehouse and only receives metadata for that, such as table and column names, never the rows themselves. The SQL Explorer is available to client admins by default and can be switched on for users per organisation.

What does it cost to connect Matomo?

The price of ENABLE depends on your plan. Each plan includes a number of data sources, from 2 on Solo to 50 on Enterprise+, and an extra data source costs €49 per month. Prices are indicative; after a demo and intake you receive a tailored proposal.
