Connect SendGrid. Through your own data warehouse.

You use SendGrid data in ENABLE through your own PostgreSQL data warehouse: the data is loaded and modelled there, and dashboards, plain-language questions and apps read from it. ENABLE has no built-in connector for SendGrid.

What is SendGrid?

SendGrid, part of Twilio, is a service for sending email through an API or SMTP, mainly transactional messages such as order confirmations and password emails. Development teams use it to deliver email from their own application reliably, and it also offers a module for marketing campaigns.

How to use SendGrid data in ENABLE

Data from SendGrid is loaded outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration, and then modelled in your data warehouse. Data Analytics sets this up. From then on Power BI dashboards, the SQL Explorer with AI and the data API read from the same model, and access profiles decide who sees what.

Next to orders from Shopify or your own database, you see whether every order received a delivered confirmation. Add Zendesk to see whether delivery problems coincide with more questions to customer service.

Note: Per-email activity can only be looked up in SendGrid itself for a limited period. If you want to keep the history per message, you need to store the events yourself.

What you do with SendGrid data

Plain-language questions

  • “What share of our order confirmations was not delivered last month, and why?”
  • “Which recipient email domains show the most bounces or deferrals?”
  • “How often is the link in the password reset email clicked?”
  • “Have spam reports gone up since the last change to our transactional emails?”

The SQL Explorer with AI turns a question like this into SQL on your data warehouse. You see the query, run it yourself, and the AI only receives metadata. More about the SQL Explorer

How to connect SendGrid

  1. 1Sketch the end resultFirst decide which questions and dashboards you want from SendGrid data; that tells you which data is needed.
  2. 2Load into your data warehouseOutside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration. We decide which route fits during the intake.
  3. 3ModelTables and definitions that work with your other sources, so everyone sees the same numbers.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does ENABLE have a built-in SendGrid connector?

No. ENABLE reads from your own PostgreSQL data warehouse. Data from SendGrid is loaded into it outside the portal, with a standard connector or a custom integration; we decide which route fits during the intake.

Which SendGrid data can you use?

Typically email events: processed, delivered, deferred, bounced, opens and clicks, spam reports and unsubscribes and suppression lists (bounces, blocks, unsubscribes). Exactly which tables you use depends on the questions you want to answer: Data Analytics first sketches the end result and then connects the data it needs.

Can I ask questions about SendGrid data in plain language?

Yes, with the SQL Explorer with AI. The AI turns your question into SQL on your data warehouse and only receives metadata for that, such as table and column names, never the rows themselves. The SQL Explorer is available to client admins by default and can be switched on for users per organisation.

What does it cost to connect SendGrid?

The price of ENABLE depends on your plan. Each plan includes a number of data sources, from 2 on Solo to 50 on Enterprise+, and an extra data source costs €49 per month. Prices are indicative; after a demo and intake you receive a tailored proposal.
